Pitahaya Festival
One of the most interesting things to do when traveling is to enjoy the various festivals that exist, in Baja California Sur the most important of them is called the Pitahaya Festival.
The legend that gave rise to it dates back to 1702, when a young wife of a Spanish soldier went, out of curiosity and without permission, to the celebration carried out by indigenous communities at the beginning of the pitahaya season. When her husband found out, full of fury he went in search of his wife, an old man tried to calm his anger, but was killed by the angry Spanish. This caused that the natives who saw the injustice, will take revenge on the Spanish, this union would lead a year later in the attack on the Mission of San Javier.
