The year 2022 is just around the corner and with it a great celebration for its arrival, so in many parts of the world it is customary to illuminate and offer a colorful show in the sky with fireworks at 00:00, accompanied of wishes, hope and new goals.

Although the last day of the year is usually celebrated with friends and family, dancing and sharing a great dinner, each person has their resolutions for the coming year, so it is common on this night not only to have fun and live together, but also to do rituals.

There are a lot of traditions, rituals and superstitions on New Years Eve. Each country, state and city have their own rituals, but some may be similar to each other or the same, the most popular that we can find are:

• After the New Year’s hug each member of the family eats 12 grapes asking for 12 different wishes.
• Those who yearn to travel take their suitcases or passport and circle the block to attract future trips in the year.
• Wear underwear of a specific color to decree what is desired for the future, red underwear for love and yellow to call money and abundance.
• A popular dating ritual is getting under a table.
• Attend mass to receive the blessing.
• Sweeping the house from the inside to the outside as a symbol of keeping away the bad energy of the year.

To carry out these rituals, a toast is made among everyone for the coming year. Regardless of the differences or similarities of these rituals, all have the goal of starting a year with prosperity and on the right foot.
