Carnaval La Paz 2026: Experience the Magic of “The World Dances” from the Malecón
By: Seven Crown Editorial Team | February 2026
There are two ways to experience the La Paz Carnival. The first is the unprepared visitor’s way: arriving late, circling for blocks to find parking, fighting for an inch of sidewalk to see the parade, and waiting in endless lines to buy a drink or use a portable restroom.
The second way is the strategic traveler’s way: watching the entire spectacle with a glass of wine in hand from a private terrace, with air conditioning at your back and an elevator separating you from the chaos in seconds.
From February 12th to 17th, 2026, the Paseo Álvaro Obregón (our Malecón) closes its streets to traffic and opens its arms to the peninsula’s oldest party. Under the theme “The World Dances” (El Mundo Baila), this year promises a display of global rhythms, from samba to Mexican folklore.
If you already have your reservation at Seven Crown Malecón (or are thinking about making one), here is the reality of what you are about to experience and how to take advantage of your privileged location.
Carnival is beautiful, but intense. For six days, our hotel facade becomes the front row of the main stage.
The peak days are traditionally Carnival Sunday and Tuesday (February 15th and 17th). This is when the floats and troupes (comparsas) are at their best. People usually arrive up to 4 hours early to save a spot on the sidewalk with chairs and coolers.
You don’t need to do that.
The balcony rooms at Seven Crown Malecón and our terrace at El Aura offer a perspective that few have: the aerial view. You will see the full design of the troupes, the coordination of the dancers, and the details of the floats without anyone blocking your vision. It is, quite literally, a private box seat over the bay.
Tradition dictates eating a “hate” (the famous La Paz-style hot dogs) at the street stalls. It’s part of the experience, and we recommend trying them. But after the third day of partying, your body will ask for a break.
While down below the offer is limited to carnival fast food, on the fifth floor, El Aura maintains its gourmet operation. You can dine on fresh catch of the day or enjoy our signature cocktails away from the shoving crowds, but without losing the soundtrack of the party rising from the street.
This year, the theme pays homage to the universality of dance. Expect to see floats inspired by carnivals from around the planet: Venetian masks, Rio feathers, and Asian dragons mixed with our South Californian identity.
For photographers and content creators, this is the peak moment. The colors against the Sea of Cortez sunset create an aesthetic that is not repeated at any other time of the year.
Conclusion: Experiencing Carnival from Seven Crown is experiencing it in “easy mode.” You have the euphoria, culture, and fun just a step away, but you keep your privacy and comfort intact.
See you in the lobby. Bring your best attitude, because from February 12th to 17th, in La Paz, no one sleeps… everyone dances!
